Join us as we take a turn into a brand-new chapter for Axé Oakland. After months of rebuilding from the June fire that destroyed our West Oakland location, our cultural home is ready to reopen—stronger, brighter, and filled with the same community spirit that carried us through.
“Volta Ao Mundo” is both a Capoeira movement and a symbol of renewal. This celebration honors the rebirth of our space and the 40th birthday of our founder, Mestre Chipa—40 turns around the sun!
This is a family-friendly, community-powered day of joy, movement, music, and togetherness. Every contribution supports Axé’s post-fire relaunch and keeps Afro-Brazilian arts alive in Oakland.

We’re reopening our new home in Fruitvale with joy, gratitude, and purpose. All proceeds directly support fire recovery, rebuilding costs, and the relaunch of our youth and adult programs.
